Four hotels across the country have been recognized for excellence in talent development this week at the Irish Hotel Federation’s Quality Employers Awards 2022.

Ashford Castle in Cong, south Mayo, won the honor of the Human Resources Management and Development award, which was open to hotels that had won category awards in previous years.

Meanwhile, the category winners at this year’s awards were: Cork International Hotel (Medium), Midlands Park Hotel (Medium) and Kilkenny Hibernian Hotel (Small).

Independent judging chair Dr Donagh Davern of Munster University of Technology paid tribute to the winners and congratulated them on their outstanding HR practices and innovations, which have been particularly critical in keeping teams together during the immense difficulty of the last two years.

“The judging panel was impressed with each winner’s dedication to people management and building high quality employment practices,” he said.

“Each winning hotel has demonstrated a true spirit of innovation, offering superb benefits and opportunities for career progression.”

Congratulating the winners, Elaina Fitzgerald Kane, outgoing President of the IHF, who presented the awards, praised the employers’ commitment to creating and maintaining high employment standards.

“Irish hotels have a well-deserved reputation for excellence as employers and are committed to employing best practice in caring for their teams. More than 65,000 people are employed in the sector across the country in a range of diverse and inclusive roles, from entry level to highly skilled employment that offers fantastic opportunities for advancement.
