The Great Wolf Lodge resort arrives in Florida

Indoor water park and hotel Great Wolf Lodge plans to open its first location in Florida by summer 2024, aiming for Naples.

It is the company’s 21st resort in the United States and Canada, with 500 suites and the popular 100,000 square foot indoor water park.

The Naples site will open on 20 acres on the eastern edge of Collier County, about a two and a half hour drive from South Florida. “The key audience” for each resort is those within a four-hour drive, said Great Wolf Lodge spokesman Jason Lasecki.

Currently, the closest lodge to South Florida is in LaGrange, Georgia, south of Atlanta. Hotel room prices fluctuate depending on the season, resort location and room size. This includes an unlimited entry pass to the water park during a stay on the arrival and departure dates. Day passes are generally not allowed to limit capacity.

Great Wolf Lodge has been thinking for years about expanding to Florida, or even possibly coming to Pompano Beach. Could the chain still possibly come to South Florida?

“Never say never,” Lasecki said Wednesday. He said the tri-county area’s proximity to Naples was considered when choosing the new site and that “we’re pretty confident the Miami-Dade and Broward families will visit.”

He called the Napoli property “significant” and said the company was “optimistic”.

But a second location isn’t out of the question: “It might make sense to consider a second property in South Florida, but not in the foreseeable future.”

Construction of the project, currently estimated at $250 million, will take up to two years, with the official opening expected in the spring or summer of 2024.
