Let’s be honest, not all Disney World Resorts are created equal! With three different price categories (Value, Moderate and Deluxe) and several different hotels within them, there is a lot to consider when deciding where to stay during your trip!
And, if you’ve got the budget bandwidth, it’s easy to turn to Deluxe Resorts for the ultimate Disney World stay. But, Just because it’s called a “Deluxe Resort” doesn’t necessarily mean it’s worth thousands of dollars more than other Disney resorts!
Of course, the idea of what is “worth it” depends on what you and your family want from your hotel. However, if you’re not careful, you could end up shelling out thousands of dollars for a substandard room.
So avoid the regret of booking the wrong luxury hotels and consider these 5 things!
Many guests staying at a Deluxe Disney World Resort expect the royal treatment during their stay – you’re probably paying over $500 after all! But, no matter how you might define what makes a luxury resort “worth it,” the appearance of building amenities and renovation walls doesn’t quite match the “luxury experience.”
With such a high price tag attached to a room at hotels like Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort or Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, you want to be sure you’re getting what you pay for — and that probably doesn’t involve being woken up by the noise of construction or seeing orange fences on your walk to breakfast.
This is why, for some, staying at a luxury resort being renovated can be a big hassle.
Recently, Disney is refreshing many of its luxury hotels. For example, the Grand Floridian Resort DVC villas are undergoing a major makeoverso you might see some building walls and various construction vehicles around the station.
And, we also saw quite a bit of construction going on outside of Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club resorts.
Besides, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Set to Receive New DVC Villas Soonwhich will bring even more construction to the station.
So if unsightly construction is a big deal for you, consider delaying booking a reservation at a Disney resort undergoing renovations. There are plenty of amazing places to stay at Disney World, so you have plenty of options! Disney typically updates each resort’s website well in advance of when a renovation is scheduled so you can check before you book.
Here’s how YOU ranked the luxury hotels at Disney World!
If you plan to splurge on a luxury hotel, make the most of your stay by thinking strategically before deciding where to stay! Sure, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is absolutely beautiful, but depending on your plans, this resort might not be worth it for you and your family (especially if you want to avoid long bus rides to parks outside of Disney’s Animal Kingdom ).
What do we mean? Well, for example, if you want a hotel that’s close to the Magic Kingdom, but also has kid-friendly dining options, you might want to consider Disney’s Contemporary Resort or Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort rather than Disney’s Grand Floridian. Resorts & Spas.
The same logic applies to the place itself! If you’re traveling with kids and plan to spend most of your time at the Magic Kingdom, consider a station on the monorail loop. These hotels are only a monorail, boat ride away, or even a short walk from the park, saving you a lot of time.
On the other hand, an adults-only party might take advantage of EPCOT’s nightlife, so staying close to EPCOT might be better for your group!
We tend to choose to stay at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn over Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club hotels because it has more amenities and restaurants and it’s still very close to EPCOT and Disney’s BoardWalk!
And, if you plan to spend a lot of time at Disney’s Hollywood Studios (or even EPCOT), staying at Disney’s Riviera Resort on the Disney Skyliner route will give you the most convenient and quickest transportation options.
So before you blindly book a reservation at a nice sounding luxury resort, look at all the amenities, dining options and location versus what you want!
The best and worst Disney World hotels at every price point
Is it worth it for you?
Another thing to consider before spending all that money on a luxury hotel is how long you will actually spend in your hotel room.
If your family plans to be in the parks as much as possible, your hotel can only be used for showering and sleeping! This could mean that you only spend a short time in your room, in which case all these luxury amenities might not really be useful to you.
In that case, a fancy (and expensive) room might not be worth it, so consider saving some cash and spending that leftover cash on a fancy meal, tour, or merchandise to make your day. to the park even better instead!
You don’t have to stay at the hotel to enjoy the dining room!
Disney World’s luxury resorts offer truly delicious dining, but did you know that you don’t have to pay to stay there to treat yourself to a fancy breakfast, lunch, or dinner?
For example, the stations on the monorail loop are easy to get to from the Magic Kingdom, so you can Easily add a visit to ‘Ohana at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort to your itinerary without staying at the resort.
The same goes for Disney’s Riviera Resort! It’s easy to get to the Riviera from the Disney Skyliner, so you can still enjoy the ambiance and restaurants without paying thousands of dollars.
If you prefer to soak up the atmosphere of the hotel rather than the room itself, you can explore Disney Resorts on your own time — FREE! Just keep in mind that, at this time, Disney only allows hotel guests or those with restaurant reservations or mobile orders to park in the parking lots. If you don’t have any, consider hopping on Disney Transport!
Consider staying at the Swan & Dolphin Resort
the Swan & Dolphin Resort is right next to EPCOT (and a boat ride to Disney’s Hollywood Studios), but a room in these hotels can be booked for much less than nearby Disney hotels!
Keep in mind that the Swan and Dolphin Hotel isn’t officially owned by Disney, so the atmosphere doesn’t necessarily scream “Disney.” But, guests staying at this resort have access to most of the same benefits as a Disney resort guest.
Plus, you can also earn (or use) Marriott Bonvoy points when you stay at Swan and Dolphin, which is a great added bonus!
Your point of view might disappoint you
Many Deluxe Disney World Resorts offer stunning views of Disney Parks, spectacular fireworks and even wildlife – but, not all rooms guarantee great views.
For example, if you’re planning on staying at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, you’re probably interested in seeing animals from your room (that’s sort of the main draw!). But, unless you pay top dollar to upgrade to a savannah view room, you might be looking at the parking lot instead of the wildlife.
At almost all Disney Deluxe Resort hotels, the only way to guarantee an unobstructed view is to upgrade to a theme park view or a savannah view, which can cost a lot more.
