As the first and still main face of the NFL Network, it was only natural that Rich Eisen would speak at the 2022 Pro Football Hall of Fame induction festivities. is taken to Ohio State fans in their home state.

Eisen began his speech by asking the assembled crowd to silence their mobile devices. He then said that the powers that be at the event asked him to tell people – in the name of safety – to locate the nearest emergency exit.

While these initially seemed like a helpful public service announcement, it was actually a setup for a biting joke at the expense of Buckeyes fans.

“If you need help locating the nearest exit,” Eisen said as he approached the punchline. “Think about as a member of the Ohio State Buckeyes midway through the fourth quarter last November at Michigan Stadium.”

The joke drew a smile from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, seated next to Eisen, and cheers and boos from the crowd.

Undeterred, Eisen continued, “That’s how you look for an exit!”

Encouraged by shooting his alma mater’s rival, Eisen continued to pursue OSU even with the mockery of the Ohio crowd mounting. He followed up with a story about checking in at his Guangzhou hotel and the front desk clerk whispering, “Go Blue!” to him.

That’s when Eisen finished on a high.

“I told him, say it with your chest. You can say it 42 times. Like we did against Ohio State last November,” Eisen exclaimed, referring to the score from last year’s Buckeyes/Wolverines game.

After a single “Go Blue!” Calling from the crowd, Eisen hit the final dig saying, “It’s OK. [Michigan RB] Hassan Haskins just scored again.

He then explained to the crowd that they brought that roast on themselves, doing the “OH, IO!” singing as he took the stage.
