Erik Tengen, co-founder of the upsell tool Wooded; Guido Salvatori, Senior Director of Integrations at Duetto; and Deniel Frey, Vice President of Revenue Management at H-Hotels.comgathered to discuss how the recent partnership between Oaky and Duetto can help hotels increase guest spending by more than 40%.

The webinar, titled “Optimizing Your Tech Stack for Total Profitability,” follows last month’s announcement that Duetto and Oaky – the leading revenue strategy and upselling platforms in the hospitality market (Hotel Tech Report, 2022) – entered a strategic partnership to provide customers with highly targeted and analytical upgrade offers. The integrated solution connects Duetto Open Pricing, room type pricing and branding strategies to Oaky’s highly personalized upselling platform to drive up to 45% more spend per guest per upgraded night, while creating a better customer experience in the process.

Speaking about the partnership during the webinar, Tengen said: “Upselling should deliver the right offer to the right customer at the right time. And what we are able to do now, with our integration with Duetto, is also to do it at the right price, or even not at the right price, at the perfect price. This is an incredibly exciting innovation, a step forward for us as a company and for upselling as a category.

Turning problems into solutions

Following presentations from the three panelists, the discussion turned to how a pain point experienced by H-Hotels – Germany’s largest family-run hotel group – helped lead to the partnership between Oaky and Duetto.

Frey explained how, coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic, H-Hotels was simply fighting for survival. He said: “We are a family business with no investors to support us and so we are struggling to keep our hotels in the market. We counted every penny, on every channel. »

Two such channels were Oaky and Duetto, which Frey had worked with successfully for several years. However, he had noticed issues due to the lack of integration between the two products, particularly around the number of upgrade request rejections they were seeing. After talking to Tengen and Salvatori, it became clear that they needed to align the upsell and room pricing strategy to streamline the entire process and increase revenue.

“The results did not disappoint”

Two H-Hotels properties – Hyperion Hamburg and Hyperion Dresden – were used as pilot hotels for the new integration. These hotels were chosen because of their large number of room types. And the results did not disappoint, with room upgrade surcharges in Hamburg up 45% and Dresden up 42%.

“When we started the pilot project, I was very impressed with the very first results, especially regarding the rejection rate,” Frey said. “Now there is almost no reason to reject requests, because the front office team can plan accordingly. They can simply approve the request automatically by enabling this feature, and thus the rejection rate has dropped and the revenue has increased.

He added: “It was a revelation and we are happy with the results.”

After several questions from the audience, the event concluded with mutual thanks between Tengen, Salvatori and Frey. salvatori said: “Thanks to Oaky for this partnership, it’s one of the best. It was about the problem of the hotel (H-Hotels) and how we could solve it together. As an industry, we need more of that. It shows what we can unlock and I can’t wait to see what the future holds. How Integration Works

The customer receives an Oaky pre-arrival email that directs them to a landing page to view upgrade offers. The landing page offers tailored offers to the customer, powered by dynamic rates calculated by Duetto based on arrival and departure dates. Room upgrade supplements are calculated for all available room types based on the property’s proven Duetto pricing strategy and data.
