One of Richmond’s hotels has been rated the best in North America

The Fairmont Vancouver Airport Hotel in Richmond has been rated the best in North America.

Vancouver Airport may have dropped to second place in Skytrax’s ranking of North American airports, but in the “airport hotel” category, Fairmont Vancouver Airport took the top spot.

Last Friday, the Richmond News reported that Vancouver International Airport (YVR) had lost its status as the best airport in North America, a title it had held for more than a decade.

However, the Fairmont Vancouver Airport Hotel, located at YVR in Richmond, was rated the best in North America.

According to the latest World Airport Awards presented by Skytrax, a consulting firm that handles airline and airport reviews, the Fairmont Vancouver Airport has been officially named the best hotel in North America and the fifth best airport hotel in the world.

The World Airport Awards are based on more than 13 million questionnaires completed across 100 nationalities of air travelers at 550 airports over a six-month period.

The awards rate a range of topics, such as the overall hotel experience, accessibility from the airport to the hotel, friendliness of hotel staff, cleanliness and fitness facilities and of spa.

“This award is a true honor and we dedicate it to our entire team who continue to deliver extraordinary experiences to our guests and colleagues every day,” said Randall Williams, General Manager of Fairmont Vancouver Airport.

Guests can view the US Departures level of Vancouver International Airport from the hotel. Although the hotel is located within the airport, the triple-pane glass provides travelers with soundproofing when viewing the runway and the North Shore mountains.

The hotel’s latest innovations include its Fit on the Fly suite, a self-guided Nordic hydrotherapy experience complete with hot shower and ice bath.
