(CNN) — It’s the definitive getaway for celebrities, honeymooners, and families, all eager to unwind in a picture-perfect paradise.

Sitting serenely in the warm, azure waters of the Indian Ocean, the Maldives guarantees the whitest white sand beaches, schools of dolphins, dreamy sunsets and an unforgettable underwater world.

Fortunately, access has since improved considerably, with resorts on atolls today stretching over 500 miles of ocean from north to south across the country.

Here’s a selection of properties slated to open this year, along with a resort that recently started welcoming guests and another that’s undergone a massive refresh.

Patina Maldives, Fari Islands

Patina Maldives is a new hospitality concept from the Capella hotel group.

An archipelago made up of four idyllic islands, the Fari Islands are located northeast of the North Male Atoll, a 45-minute seaplane flight from Velana International Airport.

They are home to Patina Maldives, a new hotel concept from Capella Hotel Group, which includes 90 contemporary villas and 20 studios by renowned Brazilian architect Marcio Kogan.

Unlike most of the other properties on this list, Patina recently opened so you can check in now if you need an urgent escape.

Ranging from one to three bedrooms, the overwater beach and pool villas offer enduring, low-key luxury — and exceptional views.

If you can resist lounging in the sun by your pool, wellness trips, culinary experiences, snorkeling or even music programs should relax you even more.
