Every Disney park in the world attracts its fair share of international visitors every year, which means it’s not uncommon for European-based Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort travelers – or Disneyland Paris vacationers in coming from European countries other than France – pass through the main European airport platforms.

One of these airports is Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS). KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, one of the main carriers flying from the major international travel hub, recently suffered a “technical failure which shut down its baggage system”.

By a the wall street journal report:

The outage was the latest in a series of snafus at major airports that rumbled bags. It has added to global disruption in an airline industry that is facing growing demand and struggling to hire enough staff to meet it.

The airport was unable to process baggage for most of Wednesday, blocking most baggage that had been checked in by passengers passing through the hub. The airport said the problem with the system had been fixed, but KLM said it was banning checked bags to keep baggage handling manageable as bags piled up.

It is to highlight that KLM provided affected travelers with the ability to rebook their flights – for those, however, who had planned family vacations to destinations like Disney theme parks, rebooking could be almost as complicated as the baggage ban herself.

It is not immediately clear whether KLM’s checked baggage ban has been lifted for the time being or whether it is continuing in a bid to make things more manageable for the short-staffed airline.

For Guests visiting Disney’s only European property during its 30th anniversary celebration, there are express check-in and baggage service options that can make the arrival process less stressful. The Disneyland Paris website notes:

Head straight for the magic, as we’ll deliver your hotel check-in documents and park tickets, then transport your luggage from the train station to your hotel.

If you book your direct Eurostar train with us on the Disneyland Paris sites or via our call center
A member of the Disney crew will be on the train to confirm your early hotel check-in and explain baggage arrangements.

If you book an indirect train or a direct Eurostar train through your preferred travel agents
When you arrive at Disneyland Paris Marne-la-Vallée/Chessy station, go directly to the Disney Express counter on the first floor to drop off your luggage and receive your advance check-in documents at the hotel (including your tickets for the Park).

The day of your departure
When you leave, simply drop off your luggage at the Conciergerie of your hotel before 11:00 a.m. and it will be transferred directly to the station, leaving you free to enjoy the Parks one last time before leaving. You will need to collect your baggage from the Disney Express counter at the station at least 40 minutes before your train departs.
