Leisure travel is growing rapidly in hotels and resorts

Is it possible to combine work and pleasure? According to recent data, the answer is a resounding “yes”.

Bleisure travel combines business travel with leisure travel and is a trend that is taking the travel industry by storm. Due to flexible working styles, Travel Edge Network sees an increase in interest in business and leisure travel of more than 25% compared to recent years. Travel Edge professionals are seeing longer stays in urban centers, including long-haul trips to Europe and South America. The length of these trips has tripled in the past three years, as the majority of long-haul travelers now take ten days or more.

Travel Edge professionals see this trend extending beyond business travelers. Families are finding that mixing business and leisure travel is a popular way to reconnect after years apart. These travelers need a variety of offers to meet their new long-term travel needs, such as more spacious accommodations or amenities. “To meet demand from bleisure and family travelers, hotel partners are introducing new room types geared towards longer stays,” says Nadiya Makarenko, senior vice president of Travel Edge Network. “These room types come in a variety of price ranges, characterized by apartment elements that allow for long-stay comfort.”
