JOHANNESBURG – South Africans have woken up to the news that a certain mayor has now officially become a performing musician.

A video of the Mayor of eThekwini – Mxolisi Kaunda’s performance at the Coastlands Hotel in Durban on Thursday has made the rounds.

“The Mayor performs his single in front of international delegates at the Coastlands Hotel,” shared journalist S’boniso Mngadi.

Kaunda (50) can be seen taking to the stage, flanked by banners bearing images of him in his chain of mayors.

He released the track Amapiano – Mtomusha – which means youth, earlier this year.

And just in case you’re a little lost in Zulu’s words, here’s the gist of what he says in the clip:

“You need a young person to make a new decision. Get up young, get up.”

Here is the video clip, for your viewing pleasure:

This is how some South Africans reacted on social media.
