The owners of a haunted hotel have released a creepy video of a rocking chair moving on its own. The footage documents Ye Olde Kings Head’s latest phantasmagoria.
Rumor has it that the hotel is home to 13 ghosts that haunt the building. It is believed to be haunted by the tormented souls of Civil War soldiers, Roman soldiers, young children and even women who worked there when it was a brothel in the 17th century. Live reports from Cheshire.
The foundations of the original building on which the hotel stands are even older, having been built for Peter the Clerk in 1208. Ye Olde Kings Head has gained such a reputation for paranormal activity that it has featured in the Most Haunted TV show and more recently. on Sky Pick’s Paranormal. It was also named the spookiest hotel in the Northwest last year.
It was bought by paranormal enthusiast Harry Achilleos 15 years ago and his dream was to make it a top dark tourism destination, due to its creepy reputation. Sightings over the years are said to have ranged from eerie haze to full body sightings, with poltergeist activity reported in the bar, including spilled pints.
It is one of many buildings in Chester known to be haunted, with a thriving ghost tour industry built around them. Harry has now installed a series of 16 infrared cameras around the Grade II listed building in a bid to monitor any unusual activity.
And among the latest finds, a video of a rocking chair that seems to move on its own. The chair, on which sits a creepy doll, is in the hotel’s room six, one of several supposedly haunted rooms.
Paranormal investigator Danny Moss, who joined Harry and fellow team member Brett Jones to work on the My Haunted Hotel project at Ye Olde Kings Head, said he and the rest of the team there had were amazed to see the images of the rocking chair. and had even tried to demystify it without success.
Danny said: ‘Chester is without doubt one of the most haunted cities in the UK, and this 400-year-old building is reputedly one of the most haunted in the country. Harry installed 16 infrared cameras in the hope to catch evidence of something paranormal happening.
“It’s become such a huge attraction locally. It’s the ninth week the cameras have been installed now and the activity we caught was phenomenal. We found the footage of the rocking chair moving at 3.28pm in the n the afternoon when there were no guests in the hotel, Harry received a notification on his phone, saying that there was movement in room six.
“He came back and told me and Brett and we even tried to debunk it, but we couldn’t find an explanation for what was going on because the chair is quite heavy and wouldn’t be moved. by a draft or people moving around, for example. I’m a pretty scientific person and I’ll always look for a rational explanation. When I can’t find one, that’s when I know it’s is real.
Hotel owner Harry added: “It’s always been my dream to create My Haunted Hotel and now that it’s finally happened I just want to prove it’s the most haunted hotel in the UK. “
