LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Award winning artist, grant recipient and entrepreneur K. Ryan Henisey promises a new experience in fine art with the launch of Artlounge Collective. The Californian company begins its first year with an exhibition in the Magic Box of the Mondrian Hotel Los Angelesnew art and artists listed and Artlounge.co, and plans to open a showcase in the spring of this year.
“As an active artist, president of a cooperative gallery, and experienced corporate marketer, I kept seeing a gap between artists’ expectations and consumer habits,” says Henisey. “Artlounge Collective aims to bridge this gap.
“There is a massive consumer audience for original artwork – hundreds of billions of dollars worldwide,” he continues, “but many artists miss the fact that more than half of all artwork art sold for less than a thousand dollars (US) last year. At Artlounge, we work closely with our artists to provide original and creative, top-quality works at prices that are accessible to the widest range of American audiences. .
Henisey brings years of arts and retail experience to fine art management and curation with Artlounge Collective. He previously worked for major cruise lines, overseeing product management and publishing for a half-billion dollar segment of the global tourism industry, among other notable accolades. An award-winning artist and the recipient of a 2021 City of West Hollywood Public Art Fellowship, Henisey is also President of the TAG Gallery in Los Angeles, where he oversees more than fifty annual art exhibitions.
“Ryan has built a trusted community with many LA artists and I knew I wanted to join him in this new endeavor,” says Justin Prough, whose art collection, The Fictional Reality of California Beach Culture produced by Artlounge Collective, exhibited at the Mondrian Hotel Los Angeles. “As a fellow artist, he has a deep understanding of how to balance an individual’s artistic goals with the reality of everyday consumers.”
Artlounge Collective partners with living contemporary artists to bring unique and creative artwork accessible to everyday Americans. The organization’s premieres feature artists and performers in a growing network of welcoming venues and pop-up events.
“Artlounge was created with artists in mind,” says Henisey. “Inspired by the talents and skills of friends and colleagues and the lack of opportunity most artists have, I started dreaming of a new way to share artistic experiences with everyday people. Artlounge Collective is all about artists and creating inviting art experiences because as a creative, I believe in the transformative power of art, whether it’s enjoying unique pieces at home or celebrating premieres in our living rooms, I know that art invokes power, charging the spaces around it with beauty and meaning.
The company’s first exhibit is now on view in the Magic Box at the Mondrian Los Angeles Hotel, located along famed Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, through March 27, 2022. Each artwork in the collection is printed on whitewashed wood veneer. Featured artwork is floating on varnished wood, wired and ready to hang in any space. To celebrate this collection, Mondrian Los Angeles is offering a “Fictional Reality” penthouse package, which includes an exclusive work by the artist when guests book the promotion on the hotel’s website. website.
“Places, people and experiences are real, but what interests me are the stories,” says artist Prough of the art on display. “I photograph various props, dolls and cars in real locations to create a rough photo composite. From the composite, I digitally paint the photographed scene. I like to print on wood veneers to showcase the fictional moment and its sunny, beachy color palette.
Prough is a Los Angeles-based artist whose work reflects the struggle between good days, good waves, and the environmental and political turmoil of our times. The talented marketer and artist enjoys telling visual stories by connecting ideas to materials and processes.
